I have a pair of Klipsch S4 IIs that have been acting up.
For some reason they have stopped working when I use them with my phone. However, when I use them on my PC they work just fine. They are out of warranty so I cannot get a replacement and I really don't want to throw away $100 headphones. Halp

Did you do any changes to your phone recently? Updates, other software stuff, etc.

It might be the jack in your phone. My Bose earbuds were doing something very similar. It turned out something was stuck in my headphone jack. I took it to Apple and the guy took it out in 5 minutes, no charge.

Nope. Was listening to music 10 minutes ago, stopped, went to play again, the sound turned into an MLG montage.

Is it the jack in the phone? Try another pair of headphones in your phone to see if the same thing happens. I actually had an iTouch that died this way a little while back.

Might do that, but they were working with my phone 10 minutes ago and now they are not.

Just tried the original headphones that came with the 1st gen iPod and they work.

Bose gave me a refurbished pair twice when their headphones failed a bit out of warranty. Call the company, be flexible.
